Hyperactivity & ADD – Caring & Coping
by Heather Picton

PRICE - R180

As the founder member and
ex-President of Adhasa, there is probably no layperson better qualified to talk about the subject of ADD and hyperactivity than Heather Picton.  Already in its third edition, Picton’s book takes what can be an extremely confusing subject and makes it simple and easy to understand.

The book succinctly explains what ADD and hyperactivity are.  "Parents usually have a gut feeling when something is wrong with their child and know when they need extra help," Picton says at the beginning of the chapter on Assessment and treatment of hyperactivity.

The book leads you through the minefield of specialists and concludes with a comprehensive table describing the very sensitive subject of medication as treatment.

There are six different chapters dedicated to various aspects of food and diet and how to make the adjustments in eating plans for your ADD/hyperactive child.  A further chapter on supplementation soundly rounds off the nutrition section of the book.

For ADHD children and their parents - and teachers - school can be a torture.  Picton offers advice on coping with homework as well as involving the class teachers as partners in the emotional wellbeing of the child.

This book is highly recommended for any person who suspects either they, their child or a loved one has ADHD.

PRICE - R180
